Exclusive Boutique Tour
This is a trip planned for the discerning traveler who wants to see and experience the best of this fascinating and colorful country. We will discover the natural beauty and culture at a serene pace.
We visit four of the most important and interesting areas of the country;
Antiqua
Antigua is a World heritage Site with a fascinating history and today is a cosmopolitan and sophisticated city in a lovely setting among three volcanoes. Enjoy wonderful museums, fabulous shopping, sophisticated cuisine and unusual sites. Our visit, at this special time of year, gives us the opportunity to see the making of the amazingly beautiful sand carpets and a procession which is part of the world renowned Easter celebration. Our home, for four days, will be a former convent, now a boutique hotel, with a roof top terrace.
Lake Atitlan
Lake Atitlan has been called “The most beautiful lake in the world” and it is magnificent–set among an astounding panorama of volcanoes. From here we travel by boat to visit villages along the lake; seeing a weaving village and a visit to a local deity called Maximon. The town of Panajachel, which lies below, is home to the Maya, and to X-Pats from all over the world. Our hotel sits on the lake with views from each room and is overlooking luscious manicured gardens. This is a wonderful place to relax and soak in the view.
Chichicastenango
Chichicastenango, is the hub of the heartland of the Maya/ K’iche people, who are known for their adherence to their pre Christian beliefs. Fascinating rituals, ceremonies and processions take place. Vendors and buyers alike, walk for hours to reach the market in their traditional and colorful outfits. The best crafts are incredible bargains, great people watching and a chance to view centuries old customs.
Tikal (Add-On)
Tikal’s setting deep in the jungle with its temples rising above the jungle canopy, is an astonishing sight. The Maya settled here in 700 BC and built a magnificent city. With wide causeways, many plazas,steep- sided temples and intricate carvings Tikal is a vast and complicated site.
