We stay in a charming and superbly located boutique hotel for our entire stay – a great convenience.
Included in our visit, are excursions to ancient archeological sites, (including Mitla and Monte Alban) and a tour of stunning colonial buildings, including Cuilapan, the baroque Cathedral and the splendid Templo de Santo Domingo, as well as the newly restored Teatro. The tree shaded Zocalo is the perfect place to soak up the Oaxaca atmosphere: with bands, dancing, marimba music and lots of balloons.
Our visit takes us to several craft villages where we will see the crafts being made and are able to buy them from the artists. Included is a visit to the Etla CaSa art center.
Oaxaca has top class museums, which we will visit our guide to help us as we visit a sampling. Our hotel is directly across the street from the superb Textile Museum. Art museums and galleries are not to be missed, including a special visit to a collection at a private home.
Of course, top of the list is cuisine: we have 2 fabulous celebratory dinners with wine. The Welcome Dinner boasts a view of Santo Domingo from the rooftop.
