The Colors of Oaxaca

The Colors of Oaxaca

Tour Dates

February 7-13, 2012

About this Tour

7 days/6 nights

Colors abound in Oaxaca; in the numerous flowering trees, the Indian women’s colorful indigenous clothing, the brilliant weavings and rugs, the abundance of flowers and the woven fabric in the markets.

This is a city of domed green cantara stone buildings, numerous plazas and courtyards and a plethora of fabulous shops. Spend time in the lovely town plaza, where one can enjoy a drink or a snack, hear a band concert or see a performance and people watch. Fromer’s calls Oaxaca City “one of the 10 best places in Mexico to spend an afternoon.”

Oaxaca City sits at the confluence of three valleys, one of them the oldest continually inhabited valley in North America.  Here, one feels the pull of ancient civilizations.

There is a large population of Miztec and Zapotec Indians wearing their traditional dress, speaking their native languages and selling their wares in local mercados.

Experience the many archeological sites; including Monte Alban high above the city, and numerous craft villages (with weaving, rugs, pottery and wood carvings) all created in centuries old traditions.

Our charming hotel is located in the Colonial Center, which hosts fabulous museums, 27 churches, shops and many delightful restaurants where you can sample the moles.  At night, the city is alive with music and dancing.

Although Oaxaca City suffered from social unrest in 2006, peace has again returned.

Oaxaca awaits you!
