Join us on one of the world’s great train journeys into Mexico’s stunning Barrancas del Cobre (Copper Canyon). This rail line, which took 91 years to build, passes though 37 bridges and 86 tunnels, including an amazing 180 degree turn. Remote and rugged, this journey takes us from sea level to almost 8000 ft into the pine forest and crisp fresh air of the mountains. The canyon area is 4 times larger than Grand Canyon and, in many places, 2000 ft deeper.
Stay at the top of the canyons in the best hotel; each room with a balcony with stunning views of the mountains. From this vantage point we can see the sunrise over the mountains and the magnificently bright stars at night.
Here we find the Tarahumara Indians, the Raramuri, as they call themselves, one of the most intact indigenous cultures in North America. They live as they have for centuries. Shop for the beautiful baskets the women weave from the local grasses and pine needles. We will visit one of their traditional cave homes.
While in the canyon we will take several walks, take a bus trip to see sites in the area and to visit a local market. We will visit a local school. If you like, ride the newly built cable car across the canyon, with views deep into the canyons themselves. We enjoy the expertise of our local guide.
En route we have relaxing stops at a beachfront resort in Mazatlan and a stay at a lovingly restored hacienda with an evening of entertainment and fun with Zorro.

This trip was so well planned and our care and comfort were primary to our guides and to jeana. We stayed in 1st class hotels, with great restaurants and didn´t even have to haul our luggage. It was well planned in advance and everything was taken care of and accounted for. We highly recommend this tour to eveyone. It was a lot of fun!
