Discover two of the quaint Colonial cities--charming and historical. These towns delight the senses!
San Miguel de Allende delivers a cosmopolitan atmosphere, due to the x-pats who have flocked there since the 1940's. Exciting restaurants, shops and galleries abound. The city is preserved as a Unesco World Heritage site with its' cobblestone streets, and unchanged Colonial architecture. The crowing glory is the Parroquia church with its' Gothic spires standing watch over the town.
Guanajuato is another Unesco site and is often referred to as "The Paris of Mexico". Colorful buildings cover the hills of this steep city and a maze of callejones(alleys) wind in and out and up. The Valencia mine was one of the richest of the area. The wealth from the mine, brought with it a plethora of extraordinary buildings, including the magnificent Teatro Juarez. The city played a huge part in the revolution. A statue commemorating El Pipila, looms over the city. This is a city alive with energy; youth, activities, concerts and strolling musicians. Ride the funicular up to the monument and enjoy the stupendous view.
We will also visit Delores Hidalgo and Atotonilco on this tour.
